Itinerary

Upon arrival at the New Yogyakarta International Airport (NYIA), you will transfer to your hotel in Magelang. Check-in and settle into your rooms before setting out to take in the beauty of your surroundings. This evening, enjoy a stunning sunset with rice field views over beautiful Magelang!

Rise early this morning and seize the day by catching the sunrise at Setumbu Hill (optional). The hill of Punthuk Setumbu is located on the west side of Borobudur Temple, just a 3KM drive from the temple. Take a short hike to the top for about 15 to 20 minutes and then enjoy the stunning views it offers. A perfect place to be at sunrise or sunset in order to capture pictures of temples in the fog- covered jungle with a mountain looming in the background, like a dream come to life. The view of the two mountains of Merapi and Merbabu paint the sky grey with the golden sunrise shining on the picturesque landscape around you.

Return to the hotel for breakfast and then today’s adventure kicks off with the exploration Borobudur Temple

Borobudur, dating back to the 9th -century, is the largest Buddhist temple on earth and is located in central Java. Restored in 1970 with the help of UNESCO, the temple consists of six square platforms topped by three circular platforms. It is decorated with no less than 2,672 relief panels and has 504 Buddha statues of varying types. The main dome sits in the centre of the top platform and is surrounded by 72 stupas each containing a Buddha statue. Only when visiting in person will you get a true appreciation of its immensity and stunning design!

This afternoon, you’ll enjoy cycling around the village of Candirejo, where you will learn more about life in a traditional Javanese village. Accompanied by a local guide, you will gain more insight into the daily activities, the multiple-crop farming systems, and the tradition itself here. If you are lucky, you might enjoy picking fruits from the trees based on harvest season at this time! Departing Candirejo village, the group will be transferred to Yogyakarta.

Today is all about adventure! You will be heading to the outskirts of Yogyakarta where you will be spending your morning delving into the depths of 2 different caves, each one giving you a unique and stunning scenic and adrenaline filled experience.

Goa Jomblang Cave A beam of light pours through a single large hole in its ceiling, streaming down sixty meters until it finally reaches the bottom and cascades off the millennial limestone walls, standing in the center feels like being bathed heavenly light and for a moment everything is at peace. Formed about 1.8 million years ago when it was lifted from the depths of the ocean to the surface the cave is a representation of how old our planet is and how much time changes everything.

After you emerge from their depths, it’s off to the sandy shores of Timang Beach where those who are brave enough can cross a long rickety bridge to a rocky outcrop that lies in the ocean.

This morning you will explore Yogyakarta city by becak (Becak is one of the oldest and most traditional forms of transportation in Indonesia). It is a short becak drive to the Alun-Alun Kidul (South Square), the backyard of Sultan’s Palace. Next to some great architecture, you’ll experience traditional clothing and of course, you’ll visit Taman Sari, the Water Castle once used by the royal family to spend their leisure time. The becak driver will take you to the Sultan Palace (Keraton), giving you ample time to breathe into this special atmosphere. Once you enter the Keraton, a slow-paced tempo atmosphere filled with tradition and history overwhelms you, making a becak the perfect way of transportation to discover the unique corners of the Keraton. Continue your exploration today with a visit to Sonobudoyo Museum. This museum collects and keep important pieces of Javanese tradition. You end the day in the present at the famous Malioboro Road for some shopping and local everyday life before returning to your hotel.

Then you will go from Yogyakarta to Solo by private vehicle. On the way you’ll stop at Prambanan Temple and enjoy a peaceful sunset here.

Prambanan
Prambanan Temple is also called Rara Jonggrang Temple. This is the biggest Hindu temple in Indonesia and one of the most beautiful temples in Southeast Asia. The height of the main temple is 47 meters, surrounded by smaller temples. In Southeast Asia, there are two biggest Hindu temples: Angkor Wat temple in Cambodia and Prambanan temple in Indonesia. Built in the 9th -century by Rakai Pikatan and was dedicated to Hindis Gods, Brahma, Visnu, and Shiva.

Departing the temple after sunset, you will arrive in Solo in the early evening

The group will be picked up from your hotel in Solo and will be transferred to Solo Train Station this morning following breakfast (no stops). You will depart from Balapan Train Station in Solo by a Sancaka Pagi Train to go to Mojokerto Train Station – this journey takes approximately 3.5 hours.

A driver will meet you at Mojokerto station for the drive to Bromo. On the way, you’ll stop at Madakaripura Waterfall.

Madakaripura Waterfall
Located in Sapih village, not too far from Bromo, is a sacred visiting area comprising seven separate waterfalls with the central one reaching a height of 200 meters from the bottom. This spectacular waterfall lies hidden at the end of a deep valley in the foothills of the Tengger range with waters that cascade from the dense forest above.

Arrive at your hotel in Bromo in time to enjoy a delicious local meal this evening.

The group will rise early this morning to set out from the hotel by jeep to catch the sunrise over Bromo! After sunrise, you will then drive to the sea of sand (Pasir Berbisik) to reach the parking area of Mt. Bromo. From the parking area, you can walk up to the summit of Mt. Bromo, where you will feel like walking on the surface of the Moon. After visiting Mt. Bromo, head back to the hotel for a refreshing shower and breakfast.

Located in East Java, Bromo sits in the middle of a plain called Seara Wedi or Sea of Sand. At a height of 2,329m, the mountain might not be the tallest in Indonesia but is arguably one of the most popular offering a wide range of great treks leading to stunning views and many other exciting activities such as dirtbiking, horse rides and more After this experience, continue your trip via Tumpang and visit some cascading waterfalls such as Tumpak Sewu and Kapas Biru Waterfall.

Located in the East of Jave Tumpak Sewu is arguably the most beautifully picturesque waterfall in Indonesia, looking like a tropical version of Niagara Falls with a volcano looming in the background. Each one of its many streams are powerful creating a stunning mist that encapsulates the dome in which it sits. From Birdseye view it has a resemblance to the tree of life and from the ground its quite simply mind blowing.

You will arrive late in Kalibaru this evening.

After an early wake-up call and breakfast, a four-wheel drive vehicle carries you through the rural villages, coffee and clove plantations and then into one of Java’s last rainforests. Humidity, wildlife, giant ferns and big trees cover the slope of the mountain, ending at the Park Ranger’s station to begin the hike to Ijen Crater, along a shady track with spectacular views. The stunning view is unveiled at the peak of 2380 meters above sea level. The lakes eerie color and smoke wafting from bright yellow sulfur deposits creates a landscape that looks desolate and barren yet vibrantly alive. As the scene unfurls before you, miners do their daily descend into the crater, re-emerging with up to 80 kilos of ore carried in bamboo baskets along the treacherous path.

Once you’re finished you will walk down the mountain and be brought back to your hotel. Today you will go from Kalibaru to Pemuteran. On the way, enjoy the view of small cities before approaching the harbour to board a ferry that will take you acrossthe sea and into the island of Bali within 30 – 45 minutes. Continue to drive by land. You will pass by the West Bali National Park before arriving to Pemuteran. Some visits can be done on the way to destination today. Your route may be discussed with the driver during the day of travel and please note, that entrance fees are excluded unless mentioned otherwise below. Duration of your private charter car is 10 hours commencing from your pickup time today!

After a morning pick up you will meet your guide at the pier where preparations for the amazing day ahead will take place! Then it’s off to the Menjangen Island to swim in and explore the stunning waters that surround it, home to vibrant coral reefs and many colorful fish. Snorkeling through these waters will be a day to remember.

Today you will go from Pemuteran to Sanur, enjoying the views of traditional villages alongside number of Balinese temples along the road to Pemuteran. Approaching Sanur, you will feel the laidback, beach town atmosphere. Some visits can be done on the way to destination. Your tour wraps up at the end of today after over a week’s worth of incredible memories made in Java and Bali!
